Ten man Bromley were denied what would have been a hard fought three points by an injury time equaliser against high flying Salisbury at Hayes lane on Saturday.
The Wiltshire visitors dominated the first half for long spells with John Casey being thwarted by Dean Santangelo early on, but it was Bromley who took the lead against the run of play on 26mins when Salisbury’s on loan Keeper Connor Gough kicked the ball straight to Gareth Williams who lobbed the Charlton man from 45yards to put the home side in front.
After another good spell the visitors drew level on 34mins when they were awarded a penalty for a clumsy challenge by Liam Harwood. Jake Reid despatched the kick, but the drama was not over for the half as on 40mins The Ravens got back in front when Harry Harding played in Ugo Udoji who crossed for Salifou Ibrahima to score from close range.
There was an unsavoury incident just before the break when some theatrics from Salisbury captain Chris Giles saw Hakeem Araba booked along with Gough for his reaction to a collision.
The second half had barely begun when Bromley left back Nathan Green was sent off for a foul that saw him shown a second yellow card by Mr Knight. Mark Goldberg made three changes soon after and switched to one up front and so began a rear guard action that saw The Ravens camped in their half for the rest of the game defending for their lives.
Ben Adelsbury and Giles both missed great chances for Salisbury before in the seventh minute of injury time after three blocked efforts Matt Wright curled a shot across the box and just inside the far post to equalise.
This was a spirited display from Bromley who deserved the point for their hard work and commitment against a full time professional team.
